Chris Christie after debate: ‘Biden is still the most electable Democrat’

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Friday that former Vice President Joe Biden is “still the most electable Democrat” in the race, despite widely being seen as having stumbled during the primary debate on Thursday.

“I’ve said all along that Biden is still the most electable Democrat,” Christie said Friday on “The View.”

{mosads}He added: “We all know 77,000 votes in Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and most of those votes were white, working-class men and women. That’s what [President Trump] won by, and … the question is going to be who is going to be able to appeal to those folks?”

“I’ve known Joe Biden for a long time,” Christie said. “And I think he’s a really good person and a good human being. But listen, what he learned last night was, ‘Game on, man. Game on,’ and he wasn’t ready.”

Biden was widely seen as having faltered during Thursday night’s debate, as he came under attack by the nine other Democrats sharing the stage with him at the debate in Miami.

Christie said Friday that Biden “can recover from last night,” adding that “the next debate’s going to be very important for him.”

“It’s really the next one that’s more important for Joe Biden, and there’s going to be a lot of pressure on him then.”

The next Democratic debates are set to take place in late July.
