Biden wins Idaho Democratic presidential caucuses

President Biden has won the Idaho Democratic presidential caucuses, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.

Biden has already been the party’s presumptive nominee for more than two months, having clinched enough delegates in March. He was the only major active candidate on the ballot Thursday. His win will net him at least most of the state’s 23 pledged delegates up for grabs. 

The ballot also included a few challengers, including author Marianne Williamson and Rep. Dean Phillips (D-Minn.), the latter of whom has dropped out and endorsed Biden. Voters also could choose the “uncommitted” option, as some voters have in several other states in protest of the Biden administration’s support for Israel in its war against Hamas.

Candidates, or the uncommitted option, must receive at least 15 percent of the vote statewide or in a congressional district to win a delegate.

The Idaho Republican presidential caucuses, which former President Trump comfortably won, were held in March.
