Georgia partnering with UPS to deliver PPE to medical personnel
Georgia is teaming up with UPS to deliver personal protective equipment (PPE) to medical facilities around the state to help with the response to the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press release on Wednesday, Gov. Brian Kemp (R) announced that the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency would leverage a preexisting state contract with the delivery company.
“This is another example of partnership between the State and a Georgia-based company that will have a direct impact on the battle against COVID-19,” Kemp said.
“UPS is proud to support the State of Georgia, applying our expertise and utilizing our flexible network in order to deliver PPE and life-saving devices throughout the state and to those most in need,” said George Willis, UPS president of U.S. operations.
The move comes as the Georgia Department of Public Health reported 3,394 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, with 28 deaths and 209 hospitalizations.
Georgia has confirmed a total of 123,963 cases and 3,054 total fatalities since the outbreak first began.
