Here are the voter registration deadlines in all 50 states

Election officials and advocates are encouraging voters to cast their ballots early — in-person or by mail — amid increased concerns about the Postal Service and the coronavirus.

Those challenges are putting more pressure on get-out-the-vote groups to ramp up voter registration efforts, with some deadlines just six weeks away.

Here are the deadlines to register in each state. All mail-in registration forms must be postmarked by the listed deadline, unless otherwise noted.

Alabama

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 19.

Alaska

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 4.

Arizona

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Arkansas

The deadline to register by mail or in person is Oct. 5. Arkansas does not offer online voter registration.

California

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 19. Residents can register in-person anytime up to and including Election Day.

Colorado

The deadline to register online is Oct. 26. Residents can register in-person anytime on or before Election Day.

Connecticut

The deadline to register online is Oct. 27. Residents can register in-person anytime up to and including Election Day, Nov. 3.

Delaware

The deadline to register by mail or in-person is Oct. 10. Online registration is not offered in Delaware.

District of Columbia

The deadline to register online is Oct. 13. Mail-in registrations must be received by Oct. 13. Residents can also register in-person anytime through Election Day.

Florida

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Georgia

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Hawaii

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Idaho

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 9. Residents can register in-person anytime through Election Day.

Illinois

The deadline to register online is Oct. 17. Residents can also register by mail before Oct. 6, or in-person anytime through Election Day.

Indiana

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Iowa

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 24. Residents can also register in-person anytime up to and including Election Day.

Kansas

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 13.

Kentucky

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 5.

Louisiana

The deadline to register in-person or by mail is Oct. 5. Online registration is available through Oct. 14.

Maine

The deadline to register by mail is Oct. 13. Residents can register in-person through Election Day. Maine does not offer online registration.

Maryland

The deadline to register in-person, by mail or online is Oct. 13.

Massachusetts

The deadline to register in-person, by mail or online is Oct. 24.

Michigan

The deadline to register by mail or online is Oct. 19. Residents can register in-person through Election Day.

Minnesota

The deadline to register by mail or online is Oct. 13. Residents can register in-person through Nov. 3.

Mississippi

The deadline to register by mail or in-person is Oct. 5. Mississippi does not offer online registration.

Missouri

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 7.

Montana

The deadline to register by mail is Oct. 5. Residents can register in-person through Election Day. Online registration is not offered in Montana.

Nebraska

The deadline to register by mail or online is Oct. 16, with an Oct. 23 deadline for in-person registration.

Nevada

The deadline to register by mail or in-person is Oct. 6, with an Oct. 29 deadline to register online.

New Hampshire

The deadline to register by mail is Oct. 21. Residents can register in-person through Election Day. There is no option to register online in New Hampshire.

New Jersey

The deadline to register by mail or in-person to vote is Oct. 13. Online registration is not offered in New Jersey.

New Mexico

The deadline to register by mail or online is Oct. 6. The deadline to register in-person is Oct. 31.

New York

The deadline to register to vote by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 9.

North Carolina

The deadline to register to vote by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 9. During the early voting period, from Oct. 15-31, residents can do same-day registration and voting at one-stop sites.

North Dakota

Eligible residents are automatically registered to vote. Absentee voters in some counties must request a ballot and ensure it is postmarked by Nov. 2.

Ohio

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 5.

Oklahoma

The deadline to register by mail or in person is Oct. 9. Oklahoma does not offer online registration.

Oregon

The deadline to register online, by mail or in-person is Oct. 13.

Pennsylvania

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 19.

Rhode Island

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 4. Residents can register in-person on Election Day but only to vote in the presidential election.

South Carolina

The deadline for in-person registration is Oct. 2, with the deadline for online registration on Oct. 4. Residents can register by mail until Oct. 5.

South Dakota

The deadline to register in-person is Oct. 19, and mail registrations must be received by that date. There is no option to register online.

Tennessee

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 5.

Texas

The deadline to register by mail or in person is Oct. 5. Texas does not offer online voter registration.

Utah

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 23, and mail registrations must be received by that date. Residents can register in-person through Election Day.

Vermont

Residents can register online, by mail or in-person through Election Day, though the state encourages online registrants to complete the process by Oct. 30.

Virginia

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 13.

Washington

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 26, and mail registrations must be received by that date. Residents can register in-person through Election Day.

West Virginia

The deadline to register by mail, in-person or online is Oct. 13.

Wisconsin

The deadline to register online or by mail is Oct. 14. Residents can register in-person through Election Day.

Wyoming

The deadline to register by mail is Oct. 19. Residents can register in-person through Election Day on Nov. 3. Online registration is not available.
