Couple gets married with quarantining bride sitting in bedroom window

A coronavirus diagnosis didn’t stop one California couple from going forward with their wedding last month, with the self-isolating bride exchanging vows with her groom as she looked out from her second-story bedroom window.

According to NBC News, 29-year-old Lauren Delgado said her now-husband, 27-year-old Patrick Delgado, stood outside below the bride, along with socially distanced family members wearing masks.

She added that there were a total of 10 guests — all of whom tested negative. Some attendees watched from their parked cars on the street.

“It was the most 2020 wedding I have ever shot during COVID-19,” Jessica Jackson, the wedding’s photographer, told NBC.

Lauren and Patrick Delgado were engaged last May, but the pandemic forced the couple to change the venue and guest lists of their Nov. 20 wedding three times, NBC reported.

Five days before the scheduled ceremony, Lauren Delgado tested positive for COVID-19.

“Everything that could go wrong did go wrong,” Delgado told NBC. “I was really saddened because everything we had planned was already getting cancelled.”

However, the couple decided to hold a small, redesigned ceremony, as their marriage license was set to expire the day after.

The 45-minute ceremony was held at the bride’s mother’s home in Ontario, Calif., about 40 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

Following the ceremony, Lauren Delgado remained at her mother’s house, while Patrick left for his house.

On Monday, the couple saw each other for the first time since their wedding day when they picked up the keys to their first apartment together — “while following health protocols of course,” Delgado added.

This comes as many couples across the country have had to hold smaller ceremonies or postpone their wedding celebrations amid the coronavirus pandemic, especially as more states are seeing record spikes in infections.

As of Tuesday, California has recorded a total of 1,225,189 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 19,211 fatalities. The state saw more than 12,000 newly reported infections on Tuesday alone, along with 70 new deaths as a result of the virus.
