Republican presidential nominee former President Trump arrives for a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate, Oct. 29, 2024, in Palm Beach, Fla.

A Texas man was arrested for allegedly trespassing at Mar-a-Lago early morning Tuesday, telling law enforcement that he wanted to “spread the gospel” to President Trump and marry the commander in chief’s granddaughter.

Anthony Thomas Reyes, 23, was arrested by the Palm Beach Police Department for “unlawfully entering” the Mar-a-Lago Club, Trump’s resort in Palm Beach, Fla., according to the Secret Service.

“Shortly after midnight, the individual scaled a perimeter fence and triggered alarms. U.S. Secret Service personnel detained him without incident at the scene. Palm Beach Police officers responded to the scene and took the individual into custody, charging him with occupied trespassing,” a Secret Service spokesperson told The Hill in an emailed statement Tuesday.

No Secret Service protectees were present when the incident took place, including Trump.

Reyes allegedly told law enforcement that he hopped over Mar-a-Lago’s walls to speak to Trump about the “gospel” and then marry Kai Madison Trump, Donald Trump Jr.’s daughter, who turned 18 last month, according to an arrest report reviewed by multiple outlets.

Reyes was previously arrested and accused of trespassing at Mar-a-Lago on New Year’s Eve in 2024, according to the police report. Court records show Reyes was booked at the Palm Beach County Jail. He pleaded not guilty. The bond was set at $50,000, and the judge ordered him not to have contact with the president or any of his family members.

The incident comes less than a year after Ryan Wesley Routh was accused of attempting to assassinate then-candidate Trump at his golf course in West Palm Beach. The state of Florida hit Routh with charges of attempted first-degree murder and terrorism in early April.

Kai Trump is attending Benjamin School and has committed to play golf at the University of Miami.
