Six arrested in New Hampshire youth detention sex abuse investigation

New Hampshire police on Wednesday arrested six men in connection to sexual abuse allegations, The Associated Press reported.

According to the state’s attorney general’s office, the six men face allegations of sex abuse spanning from 1994 to 2005 at the Sununu Youth Services Center, formerly known as the Youth Development Center.

Since July 2019, the center has been a focus of a broad criminal investigation where two former counselors were charged with 82 counts of rape, but had their charges dismissed in 2020 due to strengthening the case.

Both of the counselors were arrested again along with three others who were charged with rape and another who was charged with being an accomplice to sexual assault.

Two hundred men and women have joined a civil lawsuit alleging that they were physically or sexually abused as children by 150 staffers from 1963 to 2018.
