Police said the shooting in Bryan occurred at Kent Moore Cabinets and the suspect, who is now in custody, is a store employee.
Police have not released the name of the trooper or the alleged gunman, but have said a handgun was used in the shooting. There is no known motive at this time.
Authorities said there were seven victims in the store shooting: one was killed; four are in critical condition; one suffered a minor injury; and one went to the hospital for asthma-related issues.
The Hill has reached out to the Texas Department of Public Safety for comment.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) released a statement saying he has been working with law enforcement and offered prayers for the victims of the shooting.
I’ve been working with @TxDPS & TX Rangers as they assist local law enforcement on a swift response to this criminal act. Their efforts led to the arrest of the shooting suspect.
