Schools in San Diego moved classes online Tuesday after a man suspected to be involved in two shootings in the area was reportedly hiding in a dumpster at a high school.
Authorities told ABC 10 News that the suspect, Christopher Marquez, shot at police Monday night during a vehicle pursuit, which ended when the vehicle entered San Diego High School’s campus. Police said Marquez and an unidentified woman then entered a dumpster together, where they remained Tuesday morning.
Police returned fire during the pursuit but it is unknown if anyone is injured. Marquez has refused to surrender.
Marquez is suspected of shooting a bounty hunter in Chula Vista in March and shooting at police officers during a traffic stop at a Jack in a Box restaurant in April.
Classes at San Diego High School, East Village Middle College High School and Garfield High School were moved online Tuesday due to the ongoing incident.
