Mets, Yankees to open vaccination sites to fans before games

Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees and New York Mets have announced they will open their stadiums as vaccination sites for fans before games.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D-N.Y.) announced the news during his daily COVID-19 briefing on Wednesday, saying that the state’s department of health is teaming up with the professional baseball teams.

They are promoting that if fans come to the games to get a vaccine, they’ll receive a free ticket to attend the game. 

The @Mets, the @Yankees & @HealthNYGov are teaming up so that when you go to a game you can can get a vaccine right at the stadium.

When you do, you’ll get a free ticket.

So if you love baseball (& protecting your community) — go to a game, get vaccinated & get a free ticket!

The Yankees released a statement posted to Twitter on Cuomo’s decision, applauding it.

“We want to thank Governor Cuomo for his decision, which will allow more fans into Yankee Stadium and provide us additional opportunities to further encourage people to get vaccinated,” their statement said. “We have been honored to host a vaccination site at Yankee stadium over these last three months.”
