Amazon is helping offer a $50,000 reward for information about multiple ropes found at a warehouse in Connecticut, with at least one being hung like a noose.
The ropes were found at a facility in Windsor, Conn., between April 27-29, NBC Connecticut reported. Local authorities are still investigating the incident.
Amazon added $25,000 to the reward on Thursday, bringing the total to $50,000 for anyone with information about the incident. The developer behind the Amazon fulfillment site offered the first $25,000.
“Amazon remains deeply disturbed by the incident that occurred in Windsor a couple of weeks ago,” Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel told the local NBC affiliate.
“Hate, racism and discrimination have no place in our society and are not tolerated in any development associated with Amazon— whether it be under construction like this one, or fully operational. We are committed to working with the Town and Windsor Police Department, as well as our development partners, to hold the perpetrators accountable and ensure that all members of our community feel valued, respected and safe. We are contributing towards the reward to find and bring to justice those responsible,” she added.
The first rope was found on the second floor of a building on April 27 and was described by a construction company supervisor as a “hangman’s noose,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Windsor Police Capt. Andrew Power said the rope was removed but they were called back the next day for another rope that was left on a beam. This one was “not a noose,” police said.
Five more ropes were found on April 29 that “could be interpreted as nooses.”
There are currently no leads on the incident.
