Rochester mayor, husband plead not guilty to gun charges after raid on home

Rochester, N.Y., Mayor Lovely Warren (D) and her husband have pleaded not guilty to gun charges after authorities raided their home, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday.

Authorities raided Warren and her husband Timothy Granison’s home on May 19 in part of a cocaine trafficking investigation, which resulted in the discovery of a rifle, pistol, and their 10-year-old daughter left alone at the residence. 

The mayor’s attorney, Joseph Damielo, told the newswire that Warren was not aware of the firearms at her residence, adding that he’s eager to review the prosecution evidence.  

Warren and Granison were indicted by a grand jury last week on a felony count of criminal possession of a firearm, as well as misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child and having unsecured guns in a home, according to the AP. 

Warren, who lost her reelection bid in the Democratic primary to councilmember Malik Evans in June, was indicted in October on charges that she broke campaign finance rules during her 2017 reelection bid. 

Granison, who signed a separation agreement with Warren years prior, was charged with drug and weapons counts in May and has pleaded not guilty, the AP noted.
