Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was charged with DUI resulting in death after being involved in a car crash early Tuesday morning that killed a woman.

The Las Vegas Police Department (LVPD) said Tuesday that officers responded to a collision near the intersection of South Rainbow Boulevard and South Spring Valley Parkway.

The crash involved a Chevrolet Corvette and Toyota Rav4, which was on fire when officers arrived, with a woman dead inside.

“The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 22-year-old Henry Rugs III, remained on scene and showed signs of impairment,” LVPD said in its statement. “He was transported to UMC hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Ruggs will be charged with DUI resulting in death.”

LVPD said there was a female passenger in Ruggs’s car, who was also transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment, according to ESPN.

In a statementthe Raiders said they were aware of the situation and sent their condolences to the victim’s family.

“We are devastated by the loss of life and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim’s family,” the team said. “We are in the process of gathering information and will have no further comment at this time.”

Ruggs, a first-round pick by the Raiders in the 2020 NFL draft, could face two to 20 years in prison if convicted, ESPN reported.

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim of this horrific tragedy. We will continue to gather facts and monitor the matter under our policies, but our thoughts at this time are with those impacted by this devastating incident,” an NFL spokesman said in a statement to The Hill.
