Colorado’s Empower Field at Mile High, which is home to the Denver Broncos, is set to require football fans to wear masks while they are in the stadium’s indoor spaces.
The Broncos made the announcement on Wednesday, saying that masks will be mandatory in all restrooms, elevators, indoor areas of the stadium clubs and suite corridors, as well as the Broncos team store and in the press box, regardless of vaccination status.
The NFL team specified that masks will not be required in suites, which it deems private areas, and that fans will not have to wear masks while they are in outdoor seating or in the general concourse.
The new move comes in compliance with an order issued by Denver public health officials on Tuesday requiring residents to wear face coverings.
“The updated Denver Public Health Order will be communicated to fans through frequent announcements leading up to — and on — game day as well as via signage displayed prominently at Empower Field at Mile High,” the team wrote in a statement.
The Broncos also encouraged fans and Colorado residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.
“We will continue to do our part to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including encouraging all eligible Coloradans to receive the vaccination,” the team said.
