Woman protests pandemic restrictions with ‘All I Want for Christmas’ parody

A California woman is protesting pandemic restrictions with her own rendition of pop singer Mariah Carey’s holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas,” Fox affiliate KSWB reported. 

During Tuesday’s public comments portion of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors meeting, a woman who identified herself as “Bridgette” stepped up to the mic while wearing a red and white Santa cap. 

Bridgette’s “All I Want for Christmas” variation included mentions of antiparasitic drug ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine, while pushing back against a mask mandate and making a plea for her children to go to school. 

“I don’t want a lot for Christmas, just body autonomy. I don’t care about the variants, because of natural immunity,” she sang with music playing from her phone. 

“I just want my freedom now. The Constitution will show us how. Make my dreams come true. End the state of emergency, and acknowledge early treatment too,” she continued. 

Despite the festive plea, the board voted 3-2 to keep the state of emergency in place to combat the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, according to KSWB.

Carey has released several holiday albums over the past two decades, including 1994’s “Merry Christmas” with the popular lead single “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” according to The Associated Press.

In related news, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.) tweeted last week that she is looking for whoever “borrowed” her Mariah Carey Christmas album. 

“This is a PSA or a warning depending on how you choose to take it. Whomever ‘borrowed’ my #MariahCare[y]  Christmas vinyl, return it,”  Pressley wrote in her tweet. “You can leave it at my office door, no questions asked.” 

Carey offered to give Pressley a new CD of her popular Christmas album.
