Adams defends dinner with Andrew Cuomo
New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) on Thursday defended his choice to dine with former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who resigned after multiple accusations of sexual harassment, The Associated Press reports.
“I was clear that Governor Cuomo should have stepped down when he did, and I don’t step away from that position,” Adams said on CNN’s “New Day.”
“But I am not going to leave any stones unturned in getting my city back under control,” Adams added. “To deal with violence, our economy, and how to navigate all of the lawmakers in this city and state.”
Adams and Cuomo last week diner for two hours in a private room at Manhattan restaurant Osteria La Baia.
Adams says he has met with many current and former New York officials, including Mike Bloomberg and Bill de Blasio, both of whom have held his position as mayor in the past.
“I sit down with elected officials all over this country to find out how do we deal with the solutions,” Adams explained.
Cuomo resigned in August following a report from the New York attorney general that found he had sexually harassed almost a dozen women. Cuomo continues to deny these claims.
