A flight from New York to Florida was forced to divert to a North Carolina airport Wednesday due to a disruptive passenger.
The passenger, who was on a Frontier Airlines flight from LaGuardia Airport to Orlando International Airport, allegedly claimed that people on the plane were touching him and trying to inject needles into him to collect his DNA, passenger Savannah Figueroa told WRAL-TV. The passenger proceeded to curse and scream and threaten everyone on the plane, Figueroa said.
“There was like waves of it where he would calm down and just stop talking completely and then he would just start going again,” she added.
The flight diverted to Raleigh-Durham International Airport at around 8:15 p.m., where airport law enforcement, fire-rescue and Wake County EMS responded to the situation, The Associated Press reported.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing and no federal charges have been filed, FBI spokeswoman Shelley Lynch told the AP.
The news comes after an American Airlines flight was diverted earlier this week after a passenger made a “threatening statement” towards the flight crew.
