Ohio Gov. John Kasich said on Sunday that he has no plans to challenge President Trump for the White House in 2020 and that he’s “rooting” for the president to stabilize an often chaotic White House.

“I don’t have any plans to do anything like that,” the Republican governor told CNN’s Jake Tapper of a possible primary challenge.

“I’m rooting for him to get it together,” Kasich said of Trump on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We all are.”

Speculation has swirled in recent months that Kasich, who vied against Trump for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, could be eying a potential 2020 bid.

“What I hope is going to happen is I hope we’re going to have stability, the president is going to learn from these episodes and we’re going to do better,” Kasich said. “That’s what I hope is going to happen. We’ll have to wait and see.”
