Univision’s Jorge Ramos on Sunday said that President Trump is “defending racism” by pardoning former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio.
“By pardoning Arpaio, President Trump is defending racism,” Ramos told CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Ramos, who famously confronted Trump about immigration at a press conference during the presidential campaign, said his suspicions about detecting racism from Trump in 2015 were correct.
{mosads}“I’m sorry to say that we were right,” Ramos said.
“I’m wondering what’s next. Maybe DACA. Maybe a wall,” he added, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which allows undocumented children to remain in the United States.
Trump on Friday pardoned Arpaio, who was convicted last month of criminal contempt for ignoring a court order that he halt his Maricopa County office’s racial-profiling policies.
