Corker: Reported charges in Russia probe ‘a sideshow’
Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) on Sunday referred to the reported first charges in the special counsel’s investigation into Russian election meddling as “a sideshow,” noting he does not know what will happen next.
{mosads}“Well, I have no idea. I don’t know the substance,” Corker told CBS News’s “Face the Nation.”
“I have no knowledge, like you, we’ll wait and see what happens. But most of us are focused on the policies we have to deal with on behalf of the American people.”
Corker’s comments come after CNN reported Friday that the first charges in the special counsel’s probe were authorized by a federal grand jury.
“Right now, you know that’s been a sideshow,” Corker added on Sunday. “As something develops that’s more serious, obviously it will take up some space, but I just have no way of determining that.”
