Collins: Dems should be questioned further on dossier
Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) on Sunday said she believes Hillary Clinton’s former campaign manager and the ex-chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) should be questioned on their connection to a dossier tying President Trump to Russia.
The Washington Post reported earlier this week that a lawyer working for Clinton’s campaign and the DNC helped fund an unverified dossier that contains allegations about Trump and his ties to Russia, as well as more salacious charges.

“It’s difficult to imagine that a campaign chairman, that the head of the DNC would not know of an expenditure of this magnitude and significance. But perhaps there’s something more going on here. But certainly it’s worth additional questioning of these two witnesses,” Collins said on CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
The DNC’s then-chairwoman, as well as Clinton’s former campaign manager, privately told congressional investigators they had no knowledge of the dossier payments, according to CNN. However, Collins indicated she has further questions for the two.
Trump lashed out in a series of tweets Sunday morning about the dossier, calling for something to be done about Clinton’s ties to it, among other allegations.
Collins also told CBS she has not seen any definitive evidence of collusion between Trump’s campaign and Russia, though she has seen evidence Russians were trying to influence the election. She sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is conducting a Russia probe.
Collins’s remarks come after CNN reported Friday that the first charges in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation were authorized by a grand jury and will likely be made public on Monday.
