Klobuchar: ‘Don’t think’ there are reasons to investigate Mueller probe’s origins

Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) said Sunday that she doesn’t think there are reasons to investigate how special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian election interference began.

“I don’t think there are,” the 2020 presidential candidate said when asked on “Fox News Sunday” if there are “legitimate reasons” to investigate the people who opened the investigation. 

{mosads}“This investigation was started under a Republican attorney general, with a former Republican appointed U.S. attorney, Rod Rosenstein, with a former Republican appointed FBI director.

“They started the investigation because of legitimate news that there were people from the Trump campaign talking to others about Russia and exchanging information. We know that,” Klobuchar added.

Attorney General William Barr last week reportedly appointed a prosecutor to investigate the 2016 decision by officials at the Department of Justice and the FBI to launch an investigation into Russia’s election interference, which eventually resulted in Mueller’s probe.

Since the report on Mueller’s investigation revealed that investigators could not find evidence of collusion between Trump’s campaign and the Kremlin, the president and his supporters have gone on the offensive.

The allege that bias was at the root of the investigation.

Klobuchar on Sunday also discussed the need to protect American election infrastructure, citing the consensus in the intelligence community that Russia has interfered in elections and may do so again.
