As the impeachment inquiry into President Trump shifts to the hands of the House Judiciary Committee, several of its members are slated to appear during this week’s Sunday talk show lineup.
The committee’s top Republican, Rep. Doug Collins (Ga.), and Democratic member Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.) will appear on “Fox News Sunday,” according to The Associated Press.
Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), also a member of the Judiciary Committee, will appear on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) told Democratic lawmakers Monday that the committees leading the impeachment inquiry are are putting together a report for the Judiciary Committee that they hope to send after members return from Thanksgiving.
“Over the course of our inquiry, we have uncovered a months-long effort in which President Trump again sought foreign interference in our elections for his personal and political benefit at the expense of our national interest,” he wrote.
Rep. Val Demings (D-Fla.), who is a member of Schiff’s panel, is slated to appear Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.”
The Judiciary Committee is expected to hold a hearing featuring constitutional lawyers on Dec. 4 after the Intelligence Committee transmits a memo with its findings following weeks of both public and private witness testimony, according to House Democratic aides.
The hearing, titled “The Impeachment Inquiry into President Donald J. Trump: Constitutional Grounds for Presidential Impeachment,” will have a panel of experts Democrats say will apply constitutional law “to the facts that have been found.”
Collins wrote a letter on Saturday to Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) saying that the panel should expand the witness list for the Wednesday hearing.
