Sunday talk shows: Lawmakers gear up ahead of Monday’s House Judiciary hearing
As the possibility of impeaching President Trump looms closer, members on the House Judiciary and Intelligence committees are slated to appear on this week’s Sunday talk shows.
Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) is expected to appear Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” while Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) is scheduled to appear on both NBC’s “Meet the Press” and CNN’s “State of the Union,” according to The Associated Press.
The chairmen will likely face questions about the probe and next steps following House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement this week that she is “asking our chairmen to proceed with articles of impeachment.”
Their appearances also come one day before the House Judiciary Committee is expected to hear from Democratic lawyers who will lay out evidence they have found in the impeachment probe while the panel considers articles of impeachment.
Articles could be introduced next week, Democratic sources told The Hill on Thursday.
Lawmakers on the committees led by Nadler and Schiff are also scheduled to make the talk show rounds Sunday.
Judiciary Reps. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) will appear on ABC’s “This Week.” Judiciary Rep. Joseph Neguse (D-Colo.) is expected on CNN.
Intelligence Reps. Denny Heck (D-Wash.) and David Cicilline (D-R.I.) are expected on NBC and “Fox News Sunday.”
Here’s this week’s full lineup, per the AP:
ABC’s “This Week” — Lofgren, Gaetz, Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.)
NBC’s “Meet the Press” — Nadler, Heck, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas.)
CBS’s “Face the Nation” — Schiff, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), national security adviser Robert O’Brien
