Alaska’s other GOP senator says he’ll back Murkowski for reelection
Sen. Dan Sullivan (R) on Sunday said he would support the reelection of Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) if she runs again, after the two Republican lawmakers from Alaska split on former President Trump’s second impeachment.
“We don’t agree on everything, but we make a good team for Alaska… If Sen. Murkowski runs again, I’m going to support her,” Sullivan told anchor Jon Karl on ABC’s “This Week.”

Murkowski is one of seven Republican senators who voted to convict Trump on an impeachment charge of inciting an insurrection in February, and the only one of that group who is up for reelection in 2022.
The Alaska Republican Party censured Murkowski for her vote against Trump on March 13, vowing to recruit a primary challenger to take on the senator who has held her seat since 2002.
Murkowski won reelection in 2010 as a write-in candidate after losing a primary to conservative Joe Miller, a Tea Party favorite at the time.
The Alaska senator has since broken with her party on a few key votes, including the repeal of ObamaCare, while being a reliable defender of Alaska’s energy interests.
