Undocumented worker fired from Trump golf club to attend State of the Union: report

Victorina Morales, an undocumented worker who was fired from the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., after going public about her immigration status, will reportedly attend President Trump’s State of the Union address.

The Washington Post reports that Morales will attend next week’s address as a guest of Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-N.J.). Her office confirmed the news to the publication that Morales will be attendance.

Lawmakers typically invite individuals who have gained national attention as their guests for State of the Union speeches, when the president addresses both chambers of Congress.{mosads}

Morales garnered wide attention in December when she told The New York Times and other news outlets about her time working as a maid at the golf club as an undocumented immigrant.

The Times reported that Morales has “made Trump’s bed, cleaned his toilet and dusted his crystal golf trophies” during her time working at the Bedminster club.

Morales described a loose protocol the Trump Organization took when checking the immigration status of its employees, allowing Morales and several others to work without documentation, with many using “phony” immigration papers.

She was fired from the golf resort after she came forward publicly.

Morales has since joined three other workers coming to Capitol Hill to petition members of Congress for protection from deportation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Eric Trump, who is currently running the Trump Organization, told The Post that the company will implement the federal program E-Verify across all of its operations to check workers immigration status.

The Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Hill on Wednesday.
