John Murray is now CEO of Monument Advocacy. Founder and CEO C. Stewart Verdery Jr. has transitioned to full-time business development, long-term strategic planning and client engagement, the firm said, and Murray and Verdery will both lead Monument’s new seven-person senior leadership team.

“After 18 years, it is appropriate to allow a new CEO to bring a fresh vision and new approaches to the firm and our clients. This is not a retirement in the slightest, but a recognition that all leaders need to cultivate an environment where their successors can achieve even more,” Verdery said.

The American Council of Life Insurers announced David Chavern will start as president and CEO on Sept. 1. He was most recently president and CEO of the Consumer Brands Association and is a News/Media Alliance, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Center for Advanced Technology & Innovation alum.

Hrdy was most recently former principal deputy director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Office of supervision policy and previously spent 15 years at the Federal Trade Commission, last serving as the assistant director of the division of financial practices.

Adam Farris is joining Toyota Motor North America as director of international trade and supply chains in the automaker’s Washington, D.C., office. Farris was previously Sen. Tim Scott‘s (R-S.C.) chief of staff and also served as the deputy assistant secretary for Senate Affairs at the State Department.

General Motors has hired Grant Dixton as executive vice president and chief legal and public policy officer. Dixton was previously the chief legal officer of Activision Blizzard and is a Boeing alum.

The Managed Funds Association has hired Ron Alquist as managing director of research. He was most recently a principal economist and senior policy adviser for the Treasury Department’s Financial Stability Oversight Council.

K&L Gates’s Andrew Wright will be joining the Carl Levin Center for Oversight and Democracy at Wayne State University as a distinguished oversight practitioner.
