Tapper tells Colbert: ‘There aren’t two sides when it comes to the truth’
CNN host Jake Tapper on Tuesday issued a warning about the state of the country under President Trump, saying people will look back at how individuals reacted to “indecencies and lies.”
“There aren’t two sides when it comes to the truth. There’s one side, the truth,” Tapper said to applause on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“There’s going to be a reckoning. People are going to look back at this era and say what were you doing with all … it’s not McCarthyism, but it’s something else … all of this indecency and all of these lies,” he continued.
Tapper’s comments comes as CNN debuts a new ad campaign, appearing to take a swipe at Trump’s attacks on the media with a new ad promoting “facts first.”
“This is an apple,” the voice says. “Some people might try to tell you that it’s a banana. They might scream, ‘banana, banana, banana,’ over and over and over again. They might put BANANA in all caps. You might even start to believe that this is a banana. But it’s not. This is an apple.”
The president has frequently targeted the network, often referring to it as “fake news.”
CNN refused earlier this year to run an ad for the Trump campaign in response to his attacks, and the network has responded directly to the president on Twitter after he slammed their ratings as being “way down.”
