Charlamagne tha God re-ups with iHeartRadio for 5 years

“The Breakfast Club” host Charlamagne tha God is extending his relationship with iHeartMedia for an additional five years to continue his popular radio programming, the company confirmed in a Tuesday statement.

Under the agreement, Charlamagne will “continue his uninhibited, trademark interview style,” on New York’s Power 105’s nationally syndicated radio show.

“The Breakfast Club,” which Charlamagne hosts alongside Angela Yee and DJ Envy, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this month. It has hosted guests ranging from celebrities and musicians to former President Obama and National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci.

The host will also serve as the new senior creative officer of culture content and programming, iHeartMedia said. He will “be discovering and curating new talent and programming for radio and podcasts and developing productions and community initiatives” in the new role.

“I give my sincerest thanks to iHeart for empowering me over the past decade to be the best talent that I can be, and for honoring me as an owner and executive,” the host said in the Tuesday statement.

“I love the audio business and iHeart is the biggest and best audio company in the world. As Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer of the Black Effect Podcast Network and now Senior Creative Officer of Cultural Content and Programming at iHeart, all I want to do for the next 5 years is continue to move the culture of radio and podcasting forward by curating a new era of voices, programming, and events,” he continued.

Charlamagne is also set to debut a Comedy Central talk show in 2021, in addition to developing another show with iHeartMedia featuring one-on-one interviews, according to the company’s statement.
