State Sen. Victoria Spartz (R) will be the next congresswoman for Indiana’s 5th District, her first victory in the political arena after her appointment to the state legislature in 2017.
Spartz is a Ukrainian immigrant who came to the U.S. in 2000 after meeting her husband on a train in Europe and later gained citizenship. She owns several businesses in Indiana’s agricultural and real estate fields and also previously served as CFO in the state’s Office of the Attorney General before she was selected to succeed former state Sen. Luke Kenley (R).
Before entering politics, she also worked as an auditor for a Big Four accounting firm and as an adjunct professor at Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. She is also active in numerous local political organizations and founded the Hamilton County Tea Party.
