Former Texas state Sen. Pat Fallon (R) won the election to replace Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe in Texas’s 4th Congressional District.
Ratcliffe vacated his seat upon confirmation for the intelligence post, which was after the state’s March primary. Fallon was nominated by state GOP leaders to replace Ratcliffe on the ballot.
The state senator was endorsed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), according to The Dallas Morning News. He defeated Russel Foster (D) in the solidly Republican north Texas district.
The Air Force veteran touted a conservative platform, pointing to his anti-abortion and anti-immigration stance while in the Texas Senate. Before being a state senator, he served in the Texas House of Representatives for six years and on the Frisco City Council for three years.
