Rep.-elect Blake Moore (R) will represent Utah’s 1st Congressional District.
Moore, 40, has spent a majority of his professional career in the business sector, currently serving as a principal at Cicero Group, a consulting firm. Before that he served as a foreign service officer at the State Department.
He said his experience helping businesses grow as well as his time in foreign affairs are key assets that he will bring to Congress. Outside of his job, Moore said he has invested in community-building efforts by supporting local adoption organizations.
Moore outlined economic growth, pushback against China and a local military base as priorities of his campaign. He said he supports the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act that provided stimulus checks to citizens and the Payment Protection Program designed to aid businesses, but he would like to see a more “tailored approach” when designing future relief legislation.
After a mission trip to South Korea with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Moore completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah. He finished higher education with a master’s in public policy and administration from Northwestern University.
