Republican Brian Jack is headed to Congress after defeating Democrat Maura Keller to represent Georgia’s 3rd Congressional District.
Jack is replacing Rep. Drew Ferguson (R-Ga.) to represent a House district situated west of Atlanta and including the central portion of the state’s western border. Jack has had a long career in politics, but he’s most well-known for his time serving as President-elect Trump’s White House political director from 2019-21.
Jack worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign in a variety of capacities, including as a delegate management director. Prior to that, he worked on former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson’s 2016 presidential campaign.
Jack has also worked at the Republican National Committee and American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He’s served as an adviser to Trump and former Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
Though Jack placed first in the initial GOP primary in May, he was unable to secure at least half the vote, forcing him into a primary runoff the next month, in which he defeated former state Sen. Mike Dugan.
The seat went handily for Trump in 2020 by 30 points, making Jack the heavy favorite in November.
