Happy Friday! Season 3 of Bridgerton is out and I’m SO excited. Here’s what’s happening today:

• House lawmakers erupted into a verbal brawl last night during a hearing. It was wild. Just watch the video. That’s all I’ll say.
• Masters Tournament champion Scottie Scheffler was arrested this morning in an incident near the PGA Championship.
• Former President Trump is speaking at a Minnesota GOP dinner tonight.

Chaos broke out last night during a late-night House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing with lawmakers hurling insults and yelling at one another.

OK, I’ll start from the beginning: The House Oversight Committee had a meeting scheduled for Thursday morning to hold Attorney General Merrick Garland in contempt of Congress. A group of Republicans wanted to attend former President Trump’s trial in New York, however, so they pushed the meeting until 8 p.m.

The comment that started it all: Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) asked if any Democrats on the panel employ the daughter of the judge in Trump’s hush money trial.

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) responded: “Please tell me what that has to do with Merrick Garland,” Crockett asked, later adding, “do you know what we’re here for?”

Greene shot back: “I don’t think you know what you’re here for. I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.” This comment is really what started the chaos.

Democrats were furious about that comment: Rep. Jamie Raskin (Md.), the top Democrat on the committee, said, “that’s beneath even you, Ms. Greene.” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) called it “absolutely unacceptable” and yelled, “how dare you attack the physical appearance of another person?”

So, then Ocasio-Cortez and Greene went at it: “Are your feelings hurt?” Greene asked. “Oh girl, oh baby girl, don’t even play,” Ocasio-Cortez shot back. Greene agreed to strike her words, but Ocasio-Cortez demanded she apologize.

I keep seeing this Crockett quote on my social media feeds: “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling. If someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde bad built butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”

So, then Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) jumped in: She and Crockett went back and forth for a bit.

“World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler was arrested by Louisville Metro Police on Friday morning after trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club, the site of this week’s PGA Championship.” (ESPN)

What we know: “Traffic outside the golf course had been stopped after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus around 5 a.m. ET. … According to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, Scheffler was trying to drive around the crash scene on a median. A police officer instructed Scheffler to stop, but Scheffler continued to drive about 10 to 20 yards toward the entrance.”

Scheffler’s charges: “Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. The assault charge is a felony; the others are misdemeanors.” (ESPN)

“Senate Republicans are on a collision course with Democrats who are insisting that nondefense spending programs receive equal treatment with defense programs,” reports The Hill’s Alexander Bolton.

“Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) says he won’t accept Democrats’ demand to give nondefense programs the same increases — dollar for dollar — as defense programs, which he said should be considered a much higher priority.”

Meal was slow. 70 (literally!) minutes after ordering, we asked waitress for an update. She threw hands up, apologized & said she’d already tried and that we should go bother the kitchen ourselves. ‘Really,” she said. ‘Go!’ What would you have done?”

😐 This is why we can’t have nice things: There’s an art installation in New York City that links the city with Dublin by a livestream video. Well, it’s been temporarily shut down because some people have been doing inappropriate things on the portal screen. Because *of course* they did. (TIME)

✈️ Whoops: Former President Trump’s plane clipped a parked plane in Florida, according to The New York Times.
