When it comes to dealing with airlines this holiday season, travelers have a number of rights should their Thanksgiving flights get delayed or canceled.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a PSA released Tuesday that the nation’s 10 largest airlines have pledged to “cover expenses for things like rebooking, meals and more” for passengers who have canceled flights that are the airlines’ responsibility. Passengers are also entitled to a full cash refund if a flight is canceled, Buttigieg noted, urging travelers to visit Flightrights.gov for more information. Between the lines: - Airlines are not required to offer compensation for issues outside their control, such as bad weather.
