On Tuesday, the Senate Judiciary subcommittee on privacy, technology and law will hold a hearing featuring testimony from Microsoft vice chairman and president Brad Smith, NVIDIA chief scientist and senior vice president of research William Dally and Boston University School of Law professor Woodrow Hartzog.
It follows a hearing the panel held with Sam Altman, CEO of ChatGPT maker OpenAI, in May — and comes as the panel’s leading senators released their own bipartisan framework for AI regulation on Friday.
In addition to the Judiciary hearing, the Senate Commerce Committee will hold a hearing to examine the need for AI transparency at the same time Tuesday.
Both hearings come a day before Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is convening a forum for senators to hear about the risks and benefits of AI technology.
Among the confirmed guests at the AI forum are Altman, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, former Google CEO Eric Schmidt and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
