Impeachment will be at the top of Democrats’ agenda if they take the House majority
Democrats will impeach President Trump if they win a majority in November, no matter how much their leaders try to pretend otherwise.
The Democrat leadership is doing its utmost to play down the prospect of impeaching the President. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said in June that impeachment is “not the path the party should go on,” claiming it’s a “divisive issue” and “not a priority.”
{mosads}Of course, the only reason impeachment is “not a priority” for Pelosi is because the Democrat leadership fears that the threat of impeachment will galvanize Republican voters to flock to the polls in droves in order to defend President Trump.
Another concern for Democrats is the support of independents, which will be crucial for them to regain the majority on the House in November — and independents don’t particularly like impeachment talk.
So when Nancy Pelosi says impeachment is not a priority, what she really means is that it’s not a priority at the moment.
If the Democrat party finds itself with majority control after November and in position to schedule impeachment proceedings, they will do so gleefully. After all, in just another two years, they will have to answer to their impeachment-hungry base in the 2020 elections.
To say that the progressive base is frothing at the mouth in anticipation of impeachment proceedings against President Trump is to put things mildly. Some polls indicate that nearly 80 percent of Democrats support impeaching the President, while even more conservative polling suggests that well over 60 percent of Democrats favor impeachment.
Unlike Pelosi, some Democrats have been more willing to give the Democrat base a taste of its deepest desire. Former Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe said recently that Democrats “ought to look at” impeaching President Trump.
Rep. Maxine Waters, who President Trump called the true leader of the Democrats — has called for the President’s impeachment on many, many occasions — she did so twice in March, once in May, and once in June. Rep. Al Green went even further, twice introducing a resolution calling for the President’s impeachment.
Meanwhile, billionaire Democrat donor Tom Steyer — who is apparently trying to beat George Soros in a game of who is the world’s most prominent real-life Bond villain — is pouring millions of dollars of his personal fortune into his “Need to Impeach” PAC. Steyer is readying a national ad blitz demanding the President’s impeachment right before the midterms.
Democrats are also increasingly turning to unhinged candidates such as Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum, who last year called for President Trump’s immediate impeachment.
Calls for Trump’s impeachment have become especially intense following the recent guilty verdicts against Paul Manafort for bank and tax violations, and the plea deal for fraud by Michael Cohen. Since then, the Democrats’ cheerleaders in the mainstream media have had an epic meltdown, bringing the impeachment parade front and center once again, just in time for the midterms.
The whole thing is a spectacle right out of the annals of Washington swamp history.
In this wider context of anti-Trump hysteria and the relentless Democrat propaganda that feeds it, the inevitability of a Democrat drive to impeach President Trump is obvious.
To hear Democrats such as Nancy Pelosi insist that impeachment is off the table is quite frankly ludicrous. This impeach-fest, in fact, the only thing on the table for Democrats.
