Pavlich: Hollow calls for unity

“Let’s give each other a chance. It’s time to put away the harsh rhetoric. To lower the temperature. To see each other again. To listen to each other again. To make progress, we must stop treating our opponents as our enemy. We are not enemies. We are Americans.”

Those were the words from former Vice President Joe Biden over the weekend during a campaign victory event in Delaware. Unity in America is the new talking point, but as the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words.

Just prior to Biden’s remarks the leader of the left’s most aggressive wing, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), essentially said a list of Trump officials and supporters should be kept for punishment.

“Is anyone archiving these Trump sycophants for when they try to downplay or deny their complicity in the future? I foresee decent probability of many deleted Tweets, writings, photos in the future,” Ocasio-Cortez asked her 10.1 million followers.

The Trump Accountability Project, led by former Mayor Pete Buttigieg and President Barack Obama staffers, is making lists of Trump administration officials, which will be used to intimidate private companies from ever employing them.

“WH staff are starting to look for jobs. Employers considering them should know there are consequences for hiring anyone who helped Trump attack American values. Find out how at the Trump Accountability Project,” former Obama spokesman Hari Sevugan tweeted, asking for names of staffers and officials.

Democrats in the media are also onboard with this witch hunt.

“Trump and the GOP (from @senatemajldr down to loyal soldiers like @HolmesJosh) have already gotten a shocking number of people and killed and are about to get more killed,” MSNBC host Chris Hayes tweeted.

“It’s not only that Trump has to lose but that all of his enablers have to lose. We have to collectively in essence, burn down the Republican Party. We have to level them. Because if there are survivors, if there are people who weather this storm, they will do it again,” Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin said.

“You can’t heal or reform the GOP who are now an extremist party. They have to be broken, burned down and rebuilt. When Biden is in power treat them like the active threats to democracy they are. If those who committed crimes aren’t punished then they will be more emboldened,” New York Times opinion contributor Wajahat Ali said.

Not to mention, while the media has upheld Biden as a “nice guy” since he declared is run for the White House in 2015, his record shows otherwise. He called Trump voters “chumps,” accused Republicans of wanting to put Black Americans “back in chains” and often loses his temper with those who disagree with him on the issues.

Unity? Hardly. These are the same people who demonized Trump supporters and President Trump in the most vicious ways over the past four years. They falsely accused Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of gang rape. They continue to claim President Trump’s tenure in the White House was illegitimate because Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, despite years of federal investigations showing otherwise. Cities across the country were boarded up prior to Election Day with the expectation of violence if Democrats didn’t get their way. Americans who have questions about voting laws being changed in the middle of a consequential election are being mocked as conspiracy theorists.

As of now, Biden received 76,222,592 votes. President Trump received 71,588,328. There is no landslide and no mandate, especially given Democrat losses in the House. The country is deeply divided on serious issues that impact the lives of everyday Americans. Republicans and Democrats have very different views about the future and direction of the country. For the past four years, President Trump has run a government dedicated to tax cuts, deregulation and individual choices in the market place. Vice President Joe Biden and his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris have vowed to do the opposite with tax hikes, lockdowns, vast government regulation and the implementation of big government programs like the Green New Deal.

Biden’s statements about unity are nothing more than typical, hollow Washington, D.C. platitudes without any real meaning. The leftist media, which controls the Democrat Party, isn’t going to allow Biden to unify with Republicans. And quite frankly, they’re being more honest about how they really feel and plan to behave moving forward.
