The Biden White House has released a strategy for battling domestic terror and, as expected, white supremacy and militia violent extremists are listed as presenting the most persistent and lethal threats to America. There is no surprise here. After all, President Biden launched his campaign from Charlottesville, Va., by repeating a lie about then-President Trump.
The White House strategy has four pillars. First, understanding and sharing domestic terrorism related information. Second, preventing domestic terrorism recruitment and mobilization to violence. Third, disrupting and deterring domestic terrorism activity. And fourth, confronting long-term contributors to domestic terrorism.
On its surface and as the words are written, these all sound like admirable goals. The problem is that this assessment done by the National Security Council as ordered by the Biden White House is an attempt to institutionalize a political narrative that is not backed up by facts.
No reasonable person says that white supremacists do not exist and same for militia violent extremists. A review of FBI data and law enforcement reports do not support that these are the most persistent and lethal threats.
The national strategy for countering domestic terrorism claims to be a comprehensive approach to addressing the threats at the same time safeguarding our civil rights and liberties. Our civil rights and liberties are protected under the Bill of Rights and written into existing law. The challenge is where the law is ignored or abused, we see the evolution of a multi-tiered justice system.
For example, since the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol there are a reported 500 Americans being detained or placed under house arrest without an expeditious due process. Many are being held in confinement for 23 hours a day. No matter who they are, who they represent or why they went into the Capitol, in America they deserve due process.
The National Security Council defined domestic terrorism as, “activities that involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any state; appear to be intended to intimidate or coerce a civilian population, to influence the policy of a government by intimidation or coercion, or to affect the conduct of a government by mass destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and occur primarily within the jurisdiction of the United States.”
A question to consider based on the description above: Have there been any groups or individuals engaged in violent riots, destruction of property, assault of citizens and law enforcement while burning various government buildings in the last year?
Antifa and black lives matter riots began in Seattle and Portland after the death of George Floyd and continue to this day on a daily basis. They have expanded operations to other major cities and even America’s smaller towns. They have publicly stated their political goals to influence government policy and have carried out illegal acts to further their goals. They continually intimidate the civilian populations. The mass destruction is more than $2 billion.
In the 32-page National Security Council report there is not one mention of antifa or black lives matter. According to FBI Director Christopher Wray, antifa is an idea not an organization. Black lives matter has brought in more than $90 million in donations and hundreds of millions more promised by American corporations and public figures. Aside from expensive properties purchased by one of its founders, Patrisse Cullors, who has left the organization while signing a multiyear, wide-ranging deal with Warner Bros. Television Group, can anyone truly account for the money? Antifa is a Marxist-based domestic terror group no matter what the Biden administration says or does not do and black lives matter is a admitted Marxist-based grift of Americans regardless of color of skin who get nothing in return.
We are in a dangerous environment where some Blacks in America feel empowered to assault white people, Asians and others on an almost daily basis. This is being ignored or treated differently by the political control of law enforcement. The videos are plentiful for all to see on social media. For the Biden administration and the National Security Council to pretend it doesn’t exist does not remove the danger to the victims and our communities.
Some call this reverse discrimination, but it is simply discrimination. While we debate the nuances of racism, prejudice, bias and this growing body of evidence in the public square, the idea of systemic racism which Biden did not see in his four decades in Washington, D.C., is now in the forefront to drive the false specter of white supremacy rising again in America.
We should also follow the money. The Biden administration has designated domestic violent extremism a national priority and granted more than $77 million to state and local partners to prevent and protect and respond to domestic violent extremism as long as it’s their defined white supremacy led violent extremism. In the budget for fiscal 2022. The administration included more than $100 million in additional resources for the Department of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI.
We are in a dangerous time with a dangerous administration willing to fund more division and not tackle all issues that are truly within the realm of domestic terrorism. If white supremacy is the greatest threat, Portland and Seattle will be peaceful tonight.
