The FBI has begun warning infrastructure companies about the threat of cyber attacks on the U.S. power grid, according to a new report.
The nationwide campaign by the FBI and Department of Homeland Security includes briefings and online webinars targeted at electrical power companies and security firms, the Washington Free Beacon reported.
{mosads}The campaign started late last month. It follows a Dec. 23 cyber attack on Ukraine’s power infrastructure that left hundreds of thousands without power.
The briefings will outline details of the attacks, techniques used by hackers and strategies to limit risks and improve cybersecurity for these organizations.
Ukraine alleges the attacks were carried out by Russian government hackers.
