Though he is up for reelection, Rep. Ryan Costello (R-Pa.) vowed not to use unflattering documents leaked by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee hacker against Democratic opponent Mike Parrish.

{mosads}”We are deeply concerned about cyber attacks by a foreign entity in an attempt to influence the outcome of American elections. We will not use information contained in the hacking as an opportunity to attack our opponent, Mike Parrish,” campaign manager Vince Galko said in an email to the Lebanon (Pa.) Daily News.

“Lawsuits against him for fraud and racketeering, personal judgments filed against him, the pending foreclosure on his home, and his ongoing violations of campaign ethics laws for refusing for over a year to file his Financial Disclosure Statement, more than demonstrate why he’s ill-suited to be in Congress.”

On Tuesday evening The Hill reported the DCCC tried to recruit a primary challenger for Parrish, who they did not feel was generating enough donations. The documents were leaked by Guccifer 2.0, the hacker or hackers behind the DCCC data breach.

Guccifer 2.0 has also claimed credit for the Democratic National Committee email leaks that ultimately resulted in Debbie Wasserman Schultz resigning as DNC head.

Guccifer 2.0 has claimed to be a Romanian lone wolf, but the intelligence community has amassed technical evidence that he is, in fact, part of a known Russian intelligence group, potentially leaking documents to alter the election.
