GOP lawmaker releases Papadopoulos transcript

The top Republican on the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday released a transcript of former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos.

{mosads}Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), who has released a series of transcripts from closed-door witness interviews last year, released Papadopoulos’s testimony shortly after Attorney General William Barr delivered the conclusions of special counsel Robert Mueller’s 22-month long probe that did not establish collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 election.

Papadopoulos came under scrutiny by investigators during the presidential race after he bragged to an Australian diplomat that the Russians had dirt on the Clinton campaign in the form of emails.

Republicans have closely scrutinized his role in triggering Mueller’s investigation and demanded more information be released.

“The American people deserve to know the origins of the probe of President Trump’s campaign,” Collins said in a statement.
