The German plans will not be finalized until Germany’s
national elections in September.
{mosads}There are currently 4,350 German soldiers in Afghanistan,
according to Reuters.
NATO officials have said they expect 8,000 to 12,000 troops
will stay in Afghanistan after 2014, when NATO forces are scheduled to hand off
security to the Afghans.
The Obama administration has not made a final decision about
how many U.S. troops will stay in Afghanistan post-2014.
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Martin Dempsey has said he
agrees generally with NATO’s range.
