Drone malfunctions, strikes US cruiser

The U.S. Navy is investigating a drone malfunction that resulted in injuries to two sailors when the aircraft struck a guided missile cruiser.

{mosads}A representative for the U.S. Third Fleet told The Associated Press that the sailors from the USS Chancellorsville were treated for minor burns after the incident, on Saturday afternoon off the coast of Southern California.

The ship was conducting a weapons training exercise when a drone used to test radar tracking veered out of control and struck the cruiser, Lt. Lenaya Rotklein added.

The ship is returning to San Diego for damage assessment.
