Report: FBI still not on scene in Benghazi

The FBI team has conducted interviews with State Department
and other U.S. officials in Libya during the attack, according to Townsend, but
the FBI was denied access to those in Libyan custody.

{mosads}Republicans have criticized the Obama administration’s
response to the attack, accusing the administration of having a “pre-9/11
mindset” in response to a terrorist attack.

Eight House GOP committee chairmen wrote a letter to President Obama specifically questioning sending the FBI to Libya to investigate the attack.

“Although brave Americans were once more murdered by
terrorists, it seems our response is to rely on a late-to-the-scene FBI
investigation,” the Republican lawmakers wrote.

Republicans have said the attack appeared to have been premeditated, but the Obama administration said there’s no evidence to
suggest that was the case.

A
report
in the Daily Beast Wednesday said that U.S. officials knew it was a terrorist
attack within 24 hours, citing intelligence officials.
