Obama taps two generals for new posts
Rodriguez would replace Gen. Carter Ham at the helm of Africa
Command, after Carter ran the command since March 2011. Rodriguez is currently commanding
general of U.S. Army Forces Command, and previously led the International
Security Assistance Force Joint Command in Afghanistan.
{mosads}Paxton is taking over a vacancy created after several moves
were announced last week. He is nominated to replace Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford,
who was picked to become the new U.S. commander of ISAF in Afghanistan.
Dunford is replacing Gen. John Allen as ISAF commander, as
Allen was nominated as commander of U.S. European Command and NATO Supreme
Allied Commander Europe.
All of the nominations require Senate confirmation, but none is expected
to be controversial.
