Report: Yemen-based al Qaeda members involved in Benghazi attack

Last year’s attack on Sept. 11 in Benghazi left four
Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

The Benghazi attack has been previously linked to al Qaeda
in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), an offshoot of al Qaeda based in Northern
Africa. AQAP is the al Qaeda-affiliated group based in Yemen and is generally
considered the most dangerous affiliate.

{mosads}If the Benghazi attack was, in fact, planned in advance by AQAP
members, it could indicate further cooperation than previously realized between
al Qaeda affiliates.

The FBI released photos Wednesday of three men it was
looking for who were on the grounds of the U.S. facility the night of the
attack. The agency did not say whether they were suspected to have participated.
