The Pentagon on Tuesday identified the soldier who died earlier this week while supporting the coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Spc. Javion Shavonte Sullivan, 24, of Fort Mill, S.C., died on Jan. 8 in Iraq’s Al Anbar province in a “non-combat related incident,” the Pentagon said in a statement.
The statement did not include details about the cause of his death, and said the incident was still under investigation.
Sullivan was a member of Operation Inherent Resolve, the international coalition fighting ISIS. The coalition on Monday released a statement announcing the fatality, but didn’t disclose the identity of the service member, the country in which he was killed, or other significant details.
Sullivan’s death is the first for the coalition in 2018. In all, 47 service members have died while supporting the coalition, 13 of them killed in action.
The coalition is currently working to take back areas of Syria and Iraq still held by ISIS, which has lost significant swaths of its territory in both countries.
