The Iranian supertanker accused of smuggling oil to Syria and sought by U.S. officials has reportedly left Gibraltar and is heading toward Greece.

The tanker, Adrian Darya 1 — previously named Grace 1 — is traveling east into the Mediterranean Sea and is set to reach Kalamata, Greece, on Sunday, The Associated Press and Reuters reported

The news services cited ship trafficking service MarineTraffic. {mosads}

The tanker reportedly left Gibraltar on Sunday after being detained a month.

Gibraltar refused a U.S. request to seize the ship, saying it was bound by European Union law.

The U.S. claims in the warrant issued last Friday that the tanker, all petroleum aboard the ship and $995,000 are subject to forfeiture. The Justice Department alleges in the complaint that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps used the Grace 1 as part of a broader scheme to illicitly ship oil to Syria.

Iran said Monday that any U.S. attempt to seize the tanker would have “heavy consequences,” Reuters reports.
