Energy Secretary will tour Japan’s Fukushima nuke plant

Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz will visit Japan’s wrecked Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant on Friday, the Associated Press reports.

Moniz, according to AP, said during his visit to Asia that he expects deepening cooperation with Japan, which is struggling to clean up the plant that suffered from multiple meltdowns after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Reuters, meanwhile, reports that Moniz promoted nuclear power while visiting China on Wednesday.

From Reuters:

“The United States is committed to working with China on the development of new nuclear reactors in both countries and will also encourage joint bids for projects elsewhere, U.S. Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz said in Beijing on Wednesday.”
